Warning Signs and Missed Opportunities
In many cases of interpersonal violence, there are warning signs—subtle at first, then increasingly clear.
These may include:
- Aggressive or controlling behavior
- Disrespect for boundaries
- Sudden mood changes
- Verbal threats or intimidation
- Isolation from others
However, in temporary living situations, these signs can be harder to identify or address. There may not be enough time to recognize patterns, or the individual may not feel empowered to act.
This highlights the importance of awareness—not just for individuals, but for communities and systems that can provide support.
